Traveling Chronicles: Welcome to Thailand Pt. 2

Thailand has so much to offer! I’d done a good amount of research prior to our trip and was adamant about planning a few excursions outside of the city. I really wanted to experience some of the great things that Thailand had to offer outside of Bangkok. There’s so much to do and see, and while I wanted to do and see everything, time just wouldn’t allow it.  We decided on a full day tour that included the floating market, a tour of the war cemetery and bridge over the River Kwai, Tiger Temple and the elephant park. I have a serious love affair with traveling. I boarded a plane headed to Kenya, Africa a few months after graduating college and never looked back. I took a job as an auditor at a black-owned Accounting firm in Washington, D.C. and had no clue that this job would ignite a traveling bug in me that I never knew existed. If you would have asked me if I was interested in traveling the world prior to graduating college, I’m sure I would have replied with a simple “Nah…not really”. But after taking my first job and connecting with several other auditors/avid travelers and hearing their travel stories, I was ready to hit the road…and I did just that. Continue reading

Traveling Chronicles: Montego Bay, Jamaica

We were in need of a break from reality. The everyday hustle and bustle of our nation’s capital, the sometimes lengthy commutes and vigorous corporate hustle had us eagerly anticipating a vacation…a quick getaway to relax, regroup and recoup to continue on our journey to the top. *hehehe* I’m a bit of a control freak, so I thoroughly enjoy taking the reigns and mapping out our excursions. I’m convinced HE loves it as just as much, since he always has a huge smile from ear to ear once we reach our final destination…our living quarters that I’ve arranged for the next 4-5 days.

Multnomah Falls: A Hidden Treasure

OREGON!? REALLY THOUGH!? Those were my exact thoughts when I found out I’d be traveling to Condon, Oregon (Where the hell is that?!) for a few of days for work. I’m an auditor, so my occupation entails a considerable amount of traveling.  I’ve traveled to some pretty cool places in and outside of the States, as well as some not so cool places.  Oregon most definitely wasn’t on my list of “Must Visit” locations, but, I must say, it’s a beautiful and scenic state that harbors its own uniqueness.

So, I had to cut my relax, recoup, revamp Sunday short to travel to one of the most rural  towns in the state of Oregon where there are no stop lights in sight, the closest Target or Wal-Mart is 80+ miles away, and the highlight of the town is the local residents’ excitement about the demolishing of an old barn-like structure in the center of town. :-/

After driving hours to several different rural towns my team made a quick stop to grab some lunch before heading back to the DMV.  We stumbled upon a very cozy tourist center and restaurant alongside a breathtaking waterfall.  Although it was raining and gloomy, it didn’t take away from the beautiful falls.  After lunch we ventured out to Multnomah Falls.  This place is BEAUTIFUL and very picturesque!  Although I wasn’t able to make the 7 mile hike to the top of the falls due to the weather, I was able to make it up to a bridge and capture some amazing photos that I just had to share. 🙂
